(CQNEWS) World's largest beverage and food company, PepsiCo, opened its first green beverage plant abroad in Chongqing last Friday.
The plant is the first of its kind in China. It is key part of PepsiCo's 1 billion US dollars investment in China.
The facility was built according to the standards set by the Green Building Council, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). More than 35 water and energy saving designs are used in the plant, including an environmental management system that manages water and energy use and so on. It will also use 22 percent less water and 23 percent less energy compared to PepsiCos other plants in the country.
