Liangping suffered the most in the May 12 Earthquake originated in Wenchuan County. By 17:00, May 13, over 20 students and teachers had been confirmed buried in the ruins of the collapsed building of Wenhua Town Central School, in which 5 students died, and 15 were injured, in which 4 were serious.
There were three buildings in Wenhua Town Central School. The 4-storey teaching complex on the left of the gate was the one with the most serious collapse. The left and right parts of the building have become ruins. All the concrete corridor rails on another teaching building located on the right of the gate have fallen. A dormitory for teachers is right in front of the sports ground has interior walls broken, but the exterior seemed no damage.
Tow large excavators were parked on the sports ground, while police, fire fighting forces and a team of construction workers sent by the local government were waiting for the orders. Only several people were observing on the ruins and listening whether there was any call for help.
