Wanzhou is the second largest city of Chongqing and the economic center of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. According to Chongqing's development pattern of "one circle two wings", Wanzhou is striving for the pioneer of balance rural and urban development and pilot areas of harmonious and stable reservoir area in the northeastern Chongqing.
The torch relay today started from Jinshan Plaza in Chongqing New North Zone (CNNZ) and, through Jinyu Avenue, Jinkai Avenue and Xingguang Avenue, ended in Chongqing People's Great Hall, where the cauldron was lighted. This torch relay lasted approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, and 208 torch bearers in total have engaged in it, where the first one is Gu Li, the world champion of Go.
The CNNZ is a new growth pole for Chongqing's development. As the core of a developed economic circle, the CNNZ will establish the modernized industrial base and social service system based on high-tech, focus the development of the high-tech industries, such as IT industry, photoelectronics industry, biological engineering & new pharmacy, environmental protection industry etc., the modern manufacture like automobile & component manufacturing and exportation, processing etc. It carries out the policy of "one district with several parks" and builds up the automobile park, photoelectronics park, software park, environmental protection park, medical apparatus and instrument park, exportation and processing area, etc. Chongqing has planned in those parks the future Central Business District, the embassy area as well as the transport and communications hub.
