Chongqing Jianzhu College was founded in 1956, covering an area of more than 900 acres. The main campus is located in the Intelligent Creation Ecological City in the Nan’an District of Chongqing’s main urban area, and the new campus at the Chongqing East Train Station is under construction. The college is the only public full-time higher vocational college specializing in construction in Chongqing, a high-quality higher vocational college in Chongqing, a project construction unit of Chongqing’s “High-level vocational college and majors with Chinese characteristics”, one of the pilot of 1+X certificate system by the Ministry of Education, a pilot unit for integration of vocational education and bachelor in Chongqing, a pilot unit for the national “5G+ Smart Education” (fifth generation of mobile communication technology) application in 2021, a pilot unit for modern apprenticeships in Chongqing, a high-skilled talent training base in Chongqing, and a demonstration school for smart campus construction in Chongqing.

The college boasts a strong faculty. There are over 700 teaching and administrative staff, with 46% being senior title teachers and over 92% being “dual-qualified teachers” (who hold the academic and professional certificates). The student population exceeds 12,300 and there are 47 international students. The college offers a rational structure of specialties, with 52 majors covering nine major categories such as civil engineering and architecture, transportation, equipment manufacturing, electronics and information, finance and commerce, culture and art, resources and environmental safety, public management and services, and journalism and communication. Among them, the road and bridge engineering technology major is the national vocational college demonstration major; The major of construction project management is the backbone of the country; The major of construction engineering technology, road and bridge engineering technology is the key construction major supported by the central government. In addition, there are 7 backbone majors in Chongqing higher vocational colleges and 2 core majors in Chongqing high-level professional group. 8 majors are open to global enrollment, including Construction Engineering Technology, Road and Bridge Engineering Technology, Landscape Design, New Energy Vehicles, Industrial Robots, Construction Engineering Management, E-commerce (Cross-border E-commerce direction), and Business Management.
