Chongqing City Management College is a state-owned higher education institution supported by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and jointly built by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. The college won various awards and titles such as a national model backbone of high quality vocational college, a member of the High-Level and Professional Construction Programme with Chinese Characteristics, a national leading organisation of vocational education, a national-level leading institution for graduates employability, an outstanding contributor to skill cultivation, a well-managed campus, the first batch of municipal model vocational college in Chongqing, a pilot college of teaching quality review and improvement in vocational institutions of the Ministry of Education, and a high quality vocational college in Chongqing. Founded in 1984 as Chongqing Civil Affairs School of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the school was upgraded to Chongqing Social Work Vocational College in March 2001 and renamed Chongqing City Management College in March 2006. Covering an area of 1800 mu, it has 11 secondary schools, 48 majors, and nearly 15,000 students. After nearly 40 years of construction, the college has focused on "based on civil affairs, service to the local community, characteristic development" and witnessed the expansion of operations, improvement of the learning environment, development of programmes and improvement in teaching quality.
