Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College
Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College is a full-time public institution of higher education established by the Chongqing Municipal Government and supervised by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. The institution was formerly known as Chongqing Machine Manufacturing School, which was founded by the former State Second Machinery Industry Ministry in 1956. In 2000, Chongqing Machine Manufacturing School and Chongqing Mechanical Workers' University were merged and upgraded into Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College. In 2006, the college was approved as one of the first 28 national demonstration higher vocational institutions. In 2010, it relocated to Yubei Airport. In 2019, it was approved as a construction unit under the China Characteristics High-Level Vocational Schools and Specialties Development Plan (Category B).
The college has two campuses, Yubei Airport Campus and Nanchuan Campus, covering an area of 1,867.82 acres with a total building area of 505,100 square meters. It has more than 16,000 full-time students, a collection of 2,268,400 books, and teaching and research equipment valued at RMB338,658,100. The college comprises 11 secondary colleges and teaching units, including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Vehicle Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Design, the School of Architectural Engineering, the School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, the School of Electronics and Internet of Things Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Marxism (Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research Department), and the School of Liberal Studies (Department of Physical Education). It offers 56 majors.
The college has achieved remarkable results in educational development. It is one of the first national model higher vocational institutions and a Category B construction unit under the national “Double High Plan.” It has been recognized three times as a National Advanced Unit for Vocational Education and has received numerous honors in the national evaluation of vocational colleges and universities, including the “Top 50 in Teaching Management” award and the “Top 50 in Student Management” award. In the “2022 Annual Report on the Quality of Vocational Education in China”, the college was recognized as one of the Top 100 Institutions in the Teacher Development Index of Higher Vocational Institutions, one of the Top 100 Institutions in the Student Development Index of Higher Vocational Institutions, and one of the Top 60 Typical Institutions for Service Contribution among Higher Vocational Institutions.
