Chongqing Qijiang Tonghui River National Wetland Park
Chongqing Qijiang Tonghui River National Wetland Park covers 454 hectares in Qijiang District, extending 14 kilometers from north to south and 10 kilometers from east to west. Wetlands account for 54.5% of its total area.
The park follows the Tonghui River from its broad southern waters through a well-preserved natural river corridor to Yulanju and Sanchahe reservoirs in the north. Together, these riverine and constructed wetlands form a representative wetland system.
The park is home to three plant species under Class I national protection, 13 plant species under Class II protection and 11 animal species under Class II protection. Alongside its role in safeguarding drinking-water sources, it incorporates the vivid visual language of Qijiang farmers’ prints into its displays and educational programs. The result is a wetland park with a distinctly local identity, where ecological learning is brought to life through one of Qijiang’s best-known artistic traditions.
