Chongqing Rongchang Laixi River National Wetland Park

Time:2026-08-04

Chongqing Rongchang Laixi River National Wetland Park was formally established in 2016 and lies in the central and eastern parts of Rongchang District.

Its broad waters, rich wetland resources and attractive natural scenery provide the setting for a remarkably varied landscape. River wetlands form the backbone of the park, interspersed with rice paddies, reservoirs, ponds and other constructed wetlands. Together, they make the park a representative example of China’s riverine wetland ecosystems.

Wanling Ancient Town, a national 4A-rated tourist attraction within the park, brings another dimension to the river landscape. Its historic remains and cultural landmarks give the Laixi River wetlands considerable historical, cultural, heritage and aesthetic value.

The park is both an important reservoir of species and genetic diversity in western Chongqing and a living landscape where wildlife, local communities and centuries of history coexist. Major attractions include the old Ming- and Qing-era street, the Zhao Ancestral Hall, Huguang Guild Hall, Erya Academy, Yu Maojian Memorial Hall, Wanling Violin Museum and Darong Bridge.
