Chongqing Youshui River National Wetland Park
Chongqing Youshui River National Wetland Park extends across Youshuihe and Youchou towns in southeastern Youyang County.
One of its defining sights is Hewan Village, a Tujia settlement with more than 600 years of history. Over 200 traditional stilt houses rise in tiers between the hillside and the river, creating a richly layered waterfront scene. Built in the traditional column-and-tie timber style, the houses preserve the architectural character and cultural heritage of the Tujia people. Three lanes running lengthwise and three crosswise paths, all paved with flagstones, weave through the village.
With its secluded river-and-mountain setting, graceful traditional architecture and enduring local customs, Hewan is widely celebrated as “China’s Most Beautiful Tujia Village.”
