On October 26, 2012, Chongqing hosted the 65th General Assembly and International Scientific Congress of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy. Following evaluation by more than 70 leading experts from 16 countries and regions across Europe, Africa, and Asia, Chongqing became the world’s first city to be officially recognized as a “World Capital of Hot Springs.” According to the Chongqing Hot Spring Tourism Development Plan—World Hot Spring Capital Brand Enhancement Plan (2021-2035) issued by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Chongqing has 13 A-rated tourist attractions featuring hot springs.
