The Jiefangbei Commercial Area, located in Yuzhong District, is Chongqing’s foremost commercial area and has long served as the economic, commercial, and financial hub of the entire city. It is Chongqing’s earliest landmark commercial area, and one that generations of local residents have helped shape with particular care and pride.

Centered on the Jiefangbei (Liberation Monument), the area extends East to Xiaoshizi, North to the Jialing River Binjiang Road, West to Jintang Street, and south to Heping Road and Xinhua Road. Its cross-shaped commercial layout has earned it the nickname “Golden Cross,” with Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street at its core.The area comprises several distinctive commercial zones: a department-store retail zone anchored by Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street; a bar, entertainment, and leisure zone centered on Zourong Road; a dining and local-snack zone centered on Haochi Street, also known as Food Street; and a small-commodities wholesale zone anchored by Chaotianmen.
