Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is located in the former Yubei District (now part of Liangjiang New Area), approximately 21 kilometers northeast of central Chongqing. It opened on January 22, 1990. On August 29, 2017, the eastern terminal area and third runway entered service, upgrading the airport’s flight area classification to 4F. The airport has three runways:

Runway 1: 3,200 meters

Runway 2: 3,600 meters

Runway 3: 3,800 meters

Its three terminals have a combined floor area of 737,000 square meters:

Terminal 1: 20,000 square meters

Terminal 2: 180,000 square meters

Terminal 3: 537,000 square meters

The airport also has 1.66 million square meters of apron space, 180 aircraft stands, and 250,000 square meters of cargo facilities. It can accommodate large passenger aircraft including the Airbus A380 and has the capacity to handle 45 million passengers, 1.1 million metric tons of cargo and mail, and 373,000 aircraft movements annually.
