Chongqing East Railway Station is an important component of China’s national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network and Chongqing’s planned “Three Primary and Two Supplementary” railway hub system. Located in the Chayuan area of Nan’an District, it is also the largest high-speed railway hub built in western China in recent years. Construction began on May 16, 2022. The main structure of the station building was topped out on June 14, 2023, and construction of the station building was completed on March 19, 2025.

Chongqing East Railway Station officially began operations on June 27, 2025. Its opening was expected to reshape Chongqing’s railway hub network, creating a four-primary-station passenger system comprising Chongqing Railway Station, Chongqing North Railway Station, Chongqing West Railway Station, and Chongqing East Railway Station. Through efficient connections between the high-speed rail network and the city’s multimodal transportation system, the station is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity.
