Located in Shapingba District, Chongqing West Railway Station is the largest passenger transportation hub in western China. Centered on rail travel, it integrates long-distance coach services, city buses, and other modes of transportation in a single comprehensive hub.

Construction began in December 2014, and the station officially opened on January 25, 2018. The station building has five levels and adopts an integrated, vertically organized transportation layout. Its structural system features a 182-meter large-span composite arch. The overall design is inspired by the concept of a “City of Heroes,” expressing Chongqing’s bold and dynamic character through an abstract architectural language. Accented by transparent glass, the sweeping arched roof resembles an eye and has become popularly known among local residents as the “Eye of Chongqing.” The station has a total floor area of 120,000 square meters, with 15 platforms and 31 arrival and departure tracks. It is designed to handle 381 pairs of train movements per day.

Chongqing West Railway Station has received honors including recognition as an Advanced Collective for Spring Festival Travel and a Civilized Railway Station.
