Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum was officially established on January 19, 2007. It consists of three venues: Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Hall, Gele Mountain Revolutionary Memorial Hall, and Chongqing Teyuan Political Parties History Exhibition Hall.

Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Hall

Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Hall mainly comprises 25 revolutionary sites, including the former site of the Southern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Eighth Route Army Chongqing Office, No. 50 Zengjiayan, Guiyuan, where the Double Tenth Agreement was signed, and the former residence of T. V. Soong.

It is among the first group of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level, a national patriotism education base, a national local Party spirit education base, one of China’s first national memorial sites for the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and a national study-tour demonstration base.

Its main functions are to protect, investigate, and study Hongyan revolutionary history resources, present revolutionary history, and promote the Hongyan Spirit.

The memorial hall focuses on the achievements of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Dong Biwu, and other veteran proletarian revolutionaries during their work in Chongqing. It also presents the work of the Southern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the early stage of the War of Liberation, including its role in uniting CPC members, revolutionaries, and the public in Kuomintang-controlled areas and some enemy-occupied areas; consolidating and expanding the national united front against Japanese aggression and the people’s democratic united front; contributing to the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War; and supporting the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Gele Mountain Revolutionary Memorial Hall

Gele Mountain Revolutionary Memorial Hall mainly comprises 26 cultural heritage sites and scenic spots, including the former site of Baigongguan Prison, the former site of Zhazidong Prison, the tomb of the martyrs killed in the November 27 Massacre, the site where General Yang Hucheng was killed at Songlinpo, and the secret detention rooms at Jiangjia Courtyard. It is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level, a national patriotism education demonstration base, and a national-level martyrs’ memorial facility.

The memorial hall focuses on the heroic deeds and fighting spirit of the Hongyan revolutionary martyrs. It presents the firm ideals, convictions, and moral courage of the Hongyan revolutionaries, and highlights the loyalty and bravery of the Hongyan martyrs.

Chongqing Teyuan Political Parties History Exhibition Hall

Chongqing Teyuan Political Parties History Exhibition Hall was built on the former site of Teyuan, a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. It is a museum that presents the development of China’s system of CPC-led multiparty cooperation and political consultation, as well as the history of China’s political parties. The museum also includes the exhibition hall at the founding site of the China Democratic National Construction Association and the exhibition hall at the former site of the Central Organ of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party. It is a traditional education base for China’s united front, with education bases of six central committees of non-CPC parties located here. With a focus on the inheritance of revolutionary heritage and the presentation of united front culture, it serves as an important venue for education on the history of the CPC, the history of the People’s Republic of China, the history of reform and opening up, and the history of socialist development.
