Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery

Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery is located at Danzishi Square, Nanbin Road, Nan’an District. It serves as an important window into the city, showcasing Chongqing’s urban development. The hall is a national youth education base, a Chongqing science education base, and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The main exhibition gallery covers 13,000 square meters.
The building was adapted from an existing parking structure and designed under the leadership of Cui Kai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Its overall layout evokes the Chinese character “起” (Qi), symbolizing both the start of new developments and the city’s forward momentum.
The interior is organized into eight main themed exhibition areas, plus supporting zones: Prelude Hall, Natural Landscape, Historic and Cultural City, Master Plan, High-Quality Development, High-Standard Living, Inland Open Hub, and Beautiful Green Mountains and Clear Waters.

Prelude Hall
Covering 650 square meters, this hall combines a spherical screen on the left with a large central overhead screen to vividly introduce Chongqing’s story, from its geographical position to its growing prominence. It is divided into two sections: City Profile and Spatial Significance, providing visitors with an immediate, immersive impression of the city.

Natural Landscape Hall
At 400 square meters, this hall highlights the theme of ancient mountains and rivers and unfolds a serene, harmonious depiction of Chongqing’s natural setting. Seven sections guide visitors through: Topographical Evolution, Geographical Hub, Majestic Mountains, Clear Waters of Chongqing, Scenic Highlights, Place Names, and Landscape in Poetry.

Historic and Cultural City Hall
Covering 650 square meters, this hall explores Chongqing’s historical and cultural richness. Following a “general-to-specific” structure, it is divided into eight sections: Historical Development, Cultural Treasures, Four Stages of Construction, Strategic Rear Area, Commercial Hub, Migration City, City of Heroes, and Resource Legacy.
Master Plan Hall
At 2,215 square meters, this hall presents Chongqing’s future-oriented urban planning, showcasing national spatial planning initiatives. It is organized into seven sections: Positioning and Goals, Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-Hub Mega-Region, Coordinated Development of the Metropolitan Area and Two Town Clusters, Spatial Layout, Metropolitan Area, Urban Renewal, and Rural Revitalization.

High-Quality Development Hall
Covering 400 square meters, this hall emphasizes industrial and economic development, focusing on three major industry clusters. Six sections highlight: the Science and Technology Innovation Center, the Advanced Manufacturing Center, the Digital Economy Experimental Zone, the Modern Service Industry Center, the Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone, and the Green Development Demonstration along the Yangtze River.

Inland Open Hub Hall
At 380 square meters, this hall emphasizes openness and connectivity, illustrating how Chongqing supports national initiatives and leads inland development. Four sections detail Open Corridors, Hubs, Platforms, and Key Development Platforms.

High-Standard Living Hall
Covering 650 square meters, this hall focuses on people-centered urban planning. Using immersive scene recreations, it illustrates contemporary life in Chongqing across eight areas: Education, Employment, Income, Social Security, Healthcare, Housing, Environment, and Cultural Life.

Beautiful Green Mountains and Clear Waters Hall
At 510 square meters, this hall emphasizes ecology and green development, showcasing Chongqing’s implementation of national environmental policies. It is divided into four sections: Yangtze Upper-Reaches Ecological Barrier, Integrated Management of Mountains, Rivers, Forests, Farmland, Lakes, and Grasslands, Green and Low-Carbon Development, and Harmony Between People and Nature.
Special Exhibition Zones

Flying Cinema: Fly Over Chongqing, a 180-degree immersive flight experience featuring motion simulation and large-scale panoramic projections, offers a dynamic view of Chongqing’s landscapes and culture.

Immersive Zone: Visitors can interact with a panoramic natural environment; walk on a digital river and see water ripple at their feet, or wave to make flowers bloom in midair, experiencing the beauty of Chongqing’s mountains and rivers.

Most Chongqing: A recreated atrium showcasing Chongqing’s traditional stilted buildings, with illuminated windows revealing homes, shops, and daily life, capturing the vibrancy of city life.
