The Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Public Security performs the following responsibilities:

1. Implement the guidelines and policies of the CPC Central Committee on public security work, and implement the work arrangements of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and the Ministry of Public Security.

2. Gather important information affecting public order and security across Chongqing, analyze the situation, formulate countermeasures, and promote their implementation.

3. Investigate and handle, and coordinate the handling of, major and cross-regional cases and incidents.

4. Organize, guide, and supervise district/county public security authorities in implementing public security work measures.

5. Undertake other responsibilities assigned to the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Public Security by laws, regulations, and rules.
