Currency Exchange
Before entry:
Any amount exceeding the equivalent of USD 5,000 shall be declared to the customs in writing, except for multiple round trips on the same day or multiple round trips within a short period of time.
After entry:
The institution for handling foreign exchange: banks (please note that they do not exchange foreign currency with unqualified individuals or companies).
Documents to bring: valid ID cards.
Quota limit: For foreign exchange settlement, an annual facilitation quota of USD 50,000 per person per year is implemented. Within the facilitation quota, transactions may be processed at the bank with a valid ID card. If beyond the facilitation quota, transactions may be processed at the bank with a valid ID card and relevant supporting documents. In addition, if a foreign national holds a Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card, the annual facilitation quota of USD 50,000 per person per year is applicable for foreign exchange settlement and purchase.
