Liziba Station

Time:2026-08-10

Liziba Station on Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 is China’s first elevated straddle-type monorail station built as an integral part of a residential and commercial building. Completed in March 2004, the station covers 3,100 square meters, with a total floor area of 6,000 square meters. It occupies the sixth and seventh floors of a residential-commercial building at 39 Liziba Main Street beside the Jialing River. Its extraordinary sight of trains seemingly “passing through a building” has made Liziba one of Chongqing’s most recognizable attractions, drawing visitors from China and around the world.

A dedicated viewing platform has been built for visitors to capture the iconic scene from virtually every angle. Covering approximately 1,367 square meters, the platform includes around 840 square meters of dedicated viewing and photography space, along with a tourist-coach drop-off area, an open viewing plaza, a glass walkway, and pedestrian access routes. Two additional walking trails connect the viewing area with Liziba Park and Jiabin Road.

Below the station, the large-scale relief Soul of the Rock, created by renowned artist Jiang Bibo, forms another important part of the Liziba landscape. The artwork reflects Chongqing’s distinctive Bayu (Chongqing) culture. Its lower section portrays people standing at a bridgehead and looking out over the city, while the upper section incorporates a monumental human face shaped around the natural contours of the rock, vividly expressing the bond between people and the land.
